Founded in Houston in 1892, DePelchin is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the lives of children by enhancing their mental health and physical well-being. Today, we serve thousands of children, parents, caregivers, and families across Houston and communities throughout Texas.
At DePelchin, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to grow up in a safe, stable, and nurturing environment. Through a comprehensive continuum of services, we help prevent family crises, support parents and caregivers, promote healing from trauma, and ensure children have access to the care and resources they need to thrive.

What began as one woman’s commitment to caring for vulnerable children has grown into one of Texas’ most trusted child and family service organizations. While our programs have evolved to meet changing community needs, our purpose always remains the same: helping children be safe, healthy, and connected to caring adults who support their well-being today and for years to come.
Using evidence-based and trauma-informed practices, we work alongside families to build resilience, strengthen relationships, and create lasting positive outcomes for children.
