Last year, more than 6,000 children were in the foster care system across Harris County and the surrounding 12 counties. When children enter foster care, they often leave home with little notice and only a few belongings.
In the midst of an uncertain transition, those belongings are too often packed in a trash bag. Carrying Hope helps replace that experience with a suitcase or backpack of their own, offering little more comfort, a lot more dignity, and most importantly, a reminder that they matter.

Carrying Hope is a fundraising campaign created by DePelchin Family Services a trusted and deeply rooted organization in Houston and the surrounding areas. Money raised goes directly toward suitcases, duffel bags or backpacks for Houston area foster children in foster care.
A trash bag tells a child that their belongings, and by extension they, don’t matter enough for something better. A bag of their own tells a different story: that someone cares for them, that they’re worth the same dignity as anyone else packing for a trip, a move, or a new start.
